What the Shrine does:

The Shrine Hospital network currently includes 22 hospitals - 19 orthopaedic units and three burn institutes. In addition to patient care, these hospitals are actively engaged in teaching and research programs.

The Shriners Hospital for Children Endowment  Fund provides approximately 85% of the hospital's operating income. Obviously, every contribution helps. The club obtained its name from its goal of adding 100 million dollars to the endowment  fund through gifts or bequests of $100 or more.
